Stay Awake with Peppermint Oil!
Have you ever struggled to stay awake on watch or gotten the head bobs while driving? Things like fog, wind and waves, or blowing snow can be mesmerizing. There’s all the usual suspects to stay awake: chugging caffeinated energy drinks; chewing gum; slapping yourself in the face; making safety rounds; singing and dancing. Here’s a great one to add to your repertoire that won’t end up with the crash and burn of caffeine or sore slapped cheeks.
Put a few drops of peppermint essential oil in the palm of one hand, rub your hands together, cup them over your nose and mouth, then breathe deeply a few times. Woosh! You will instantly be more awake. Rub any excess oil on the back of your neck for a little added pick me up. If you have sensitive skin, please test a small amount to make sure it doesn’t irritate your constitution. I also like to add a drop of peppermint oil in my water bottle to give it a little calorie free flavor.
